HELB opens 2025/26 undergraduate, TVET loan applications

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has officially opened applications for both first-time and subsequent Undergraduate and TVET Loans and Scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This program aims to offer essential financial aid to students engaged in higher education and vocational training, with the goal of enabling them to secure their future.

First-time applicants are directed to submit their applications exclusively through the HEF portaL. This online platform streamlines the initial application process for new beneficiaries.

Government Reinforces Commitment to TVET to Close Skills Gap

The Government is focused on improving technical and vocational training to address the skills gap, according to Principal Secretary of the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Esther Muoria.

Muoria highlighted that TVETs are essential for providing youths with the skills and knowledge necessary for the job market and entrepreneurship. Recent figures from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) show that over three million Kenyans, predominantly youths, are unemployed.
